Every time an anchor, a source or a formula changes, the figures move. This is the full release history with what changed and by how much, so anyone who downloaded a CSV or embedded the chart can find their version and its difference from today's. The 1977 and 1989 price-control orders, plus contemporaneous sources for 2018-2026

    • New documented 1989 anchor: a period press report on the lifting of souvlaki price control by Ministry of Commerce order. It gives both the regulated ceiling (65 GRD) and the first free-market price (70-80 GRD), explicitly "at the same price as the skewer or gyro souvlaki".
    • Out-of-sample check: the 1977 Chania ceiling (8.50 GRD) carried forward on the general CPI ALONE predicts the 1989 ceiling to within 3.4%, with no free parameters.
    • The price-control era is extended from 1976-1985 to 1976-1989, since the decontrol date is now documented.
    • The regulation uplift is now MEASURED rather than assumed: 70-80 over 65 GRD gives 1.077-1.231, centred on 1.154 (previously assumed 1.20).
    • The 1985 anchor of 60 GRD is withdrawn. It rested on unpublished recollections and cannot be reconciled with the two orders: it would imply +8.3% over four years in which the CPI rose 84.8%. 1985 is now interpolated (1977-1989) and graded "D".
    • 1998 moves from 350 to 280 GRD, with a wide 200-360 range spanning both documented paths (1989 free price carried forward, 2001 spot deflated back).
    • New catering sub-index for 1995-1997 from primary ESYE bulletins (1994=100): +12.1%, +10.1%, +7.5% against +9.3%, +8.2%, +5.5% for the general CPI. The 1989-1998 path uses it where it exists.
    • Verification: the general CPI for 1988-1994 matches the primary ESYE bulletins to the first decimal.
    • Fix: the PDF export derived the classic price from the unrounded price while the UI used the rounded one, drifting the index by up to 2 points. Both now share one function.
    • New contemporaneous source for 2018/2019: a May 2019 report on four Athens shops quoting both the old and the new price. 2019 moves from 2.25 to 2.30 EUR. The retrospective "about EUR 2 in 2019" claims disagree with the contemporaneous record, and the range is widened to contain both.
    • New 2022 source (shop-owner testimony, Keratsini) confirming the within-year path. 2022 moves from 3.00 to 2.90 EUR.
    • New 2026 source: the ANT1 nationwide survey (Aug 2026) as a soft anchor. 2026 stops being a pure projection and becomes documented: price 4.10 -> 4.20 EUR, index 225 -> 220 classic wraps.
    • CIRCULARITY FIX: the source "SKAI 2022" is renamed "Pricefox Jun 2022". The same figures were published on 15-16 June 2022 by SKAI, Novasports, thetoc, iefimerida and ERT - one survey, not five confirmations - and by the same firm as the December 2025 edition.
    • The Athens premium stops being constant. The 2025-2026 surveys place Athens at the median with Thessaloniki and Heraklion above it. The factor moves linearly from 1.08 (through 2022) to 1.00 (from 2025), which lifts 2023-2025 (e.g. 2025: 3.94 -> 4.01 EUR).
    • 2003-2011 are materially unchanged: the 2001 and 2011 anchors hold them in place.

New SKAI anchors, circular sources excluded

    • New source: SKAI national survey (15 Jun 2022) - average wrap price EUR 2.50 in 2021 and EUR 3.50 in mid-2022.
    • 2022 becomes a soft anchor: the price moves from EUR 2.96 to EUR 3.00 (catering CPI path plus blend, within a EUR 2.96-3.90 range).
    • New 2001 anchor at EUR 1.17 (399 GRD) from the dual-pricing campaign - the spot aired already in 2001.
    • Circular sources excluded: oneman.gr, financialreport.gr, vradini.gr, dnews.gr, indicator.gr and tilestwra.gr republish Gyronomics findings and no longer count as independent confirmation.

    newmoney.gr integration and 2026 revision

    • New source: newmoney.gr (11 Oct 2025) reporting a 3.20-4.80 EUR range and "around 2 EUR" for the early 2010s.
    • New 2011 anchor at 2.00 EUR and a 2025 validation point at 4.00 EUR.
    • The 2026 median price moves from 4.07 to 4.10 EUR and the index from 227 to 225 classic gyros.

    Payment-count normalisation: 12 / 13 / 14 salaries

    • Each year's wage is normalised to annual income / 12, so 1976 (12 payments) is comparable with 2026 (14 payments).
    • Wage sources were split into per-year records (EGSSE 1976-1985), so the 1976 link no longer resolves to 1985.

    Classic-equivalent rescaling

    • The index is now expressed in classic gyros (88 g meat baseline) rather than era gyros.
    • Older years drop, because the 1977 wrap was a much smaller product.
