GYRO/EUR
The gyro as a currency: how many euros a classic gyro costs and how much gyro one euro buys. The same series as the Index, from another angle.
A joking format, real data. GYRO/EUR is not an exchange rate and there is no market for it. It is the euro price of a classic gyro from the Index's annual series. There are no candlesticks, volume, forecast or recommendation, because the data are annual.

How to read it
- GYRO/EUR. The euro price of one classic gyro. “Classic” is today's reference gyro (88 grams of meat); older prices are scaled to it by the steps in the method. Prices before 2002 are drachma prices converted to euro.
- EUR/GYRO. The inverse: how much classic gyro one euro buys. It has no measurement of its own; it is 1 divided by the price of the same year.
- WAGE/GYRO. How many classic gyros the net minimum wage buys per month. It is the same integer as the Index: annual income divided by 12, after contributions and before income tax.
- Annual points. Each year is one number. 2026 is the open year, provisional, and is drawn dashed.
- Logarithmic scale. The price grew dozens of times in fifty years, so on the linear scale the early years look flat. On the logarithmic scale equal distances mean equal percentage changes.
- Bounds band. Only the price varies within its published bounds. Wage and composition stay fixed. This is neither a total uncertainty range nor a statistical confidence interval.

What this page does not say
- It is not foreign exchange. There is no market for the gyro and no price that moves through the day. We show no candlesticks, volume or volatility because we do not have them, and anything that drew them would invent them.
- It is not a forecast. The series ends in 2026. We do not project a later year.
- The “all-time high” is nominal. Part of the price increase is general inflation. It shows that a euro buys less gyro, not that the gyro became dearer in real terms. For real terms, see WAGE/GYRO.
- It is not the cost of living. One product is not a basket. What the Index does not measure.
- Not financial advice. A purchasing-power indicator is not an investment product and nothing here recommends buying or selling. HODL your tzatziki.
